I ‘m a Clinical Hypnotherapist and a Registered Nurse. Over the past 25 years I have cared for many clients with both illnesses of the mind and of the body. Many of the clients that I met wanted to make changes to their lives but had difficulty making the commitment and getting lost in the emotional experience.

We all have the potential to be healthier and enjoy more out of life. I researched many vocations and come to the realisation that hypnosis is an efficient, natural way to help make change in peoples lives.

Change

Three things I know.
Change is consistent.

There are so many changes around us, nothing really stays consistent. There is always changes in our outside world like the weather, oceans and the seasons. There too is changes within the body. Our body temperature adjusts as well as our pulse and blood pressure and so on. We are in the time of much change and even upheaval, just as things seem to be running smoothly, a challenge comes along to cause us to react and become aware of what is going on.

We need change to learn and grow and move forward.

Change is difficult to deal with when you resist what is. When you resist change, you can either ignore it (and it will go away), you challenge it or you hang onto the burden. The outcome can result in unresolved emotion and behaviours and it can become consuming and overwhelming.

I had a client that didn’t want to stop smoking because smoking a cigarette calmed him down. He was aware of the undesirable poor health outcome like emphysema and increased risk of cancer. He was ignoring the possible negative health outcomes and he was hanging onto the ‘fact’ that smoking calmed him down. After explaining to the client about the ‘nicotine trick.’ His body doesn’t calm down when smoking, in fact the body winds up, becomes stressed and further contributes to the negative health outcomes in his life. I used hypnosis to help him with his symptoms and gave him the resources and strategies to be a non smoker and today he is living a healthier lifestyle as a non smoker.

Grief is a very hard to let go of. The pain and fear of grief can be so overwhelming.
A client presented to me with such pain and suffering over the loss of her son a year previously. She was not functioning in her day to day life and was completely stuck on her sons last days including his traumatic passing. So combined with the grief, she had regrets and unfinished business, chest pain, anxiety attacks and other health issues. Over a number of sessions this amazing mother, who had been through so much, came to understand, let go, appreciate her son in a greater light, love him without pain and is now enjoying her life in a healthier, fulfilling way.
